New blog post coming tomorrow, around 12 and a fictional rant coming on Tuesday or Wednesday and another new blog post coming on Friday or Saturday. That should be most of what I'm working on this week.

The other day I read a comment where someone said, "Bill Nye, was not a qualified scientist. He only has a degree in mechanical engineering." The reason this bothered me was, a degree is a qualification and mechanical engineering is an applied science. That makes him a qualified scientist.  He is also an actor with, "the Science Guy," being his persona, which people use to argue his qualifications. However, being an actor doesn't make your qualifications mean less. Mayim Bialik doesn't become less of a neuroscientist because she plays one on TV, she had a PhD, it doesn't magically disappear when she assumes the role of Amy on the Big Bang Theory. Bill Nye does not stop being a mechanical engineer when he portrays "The Science Guy."
